A very proud moment

and a surprising one, at that. my emi-girl has been going through the terrible 4′s, to say the least. she remains her sweet little self most of the time, but boy, she sure has had her moments this past month! I realize and recognize my pregnancy has profound effects on her, and really opened my eyes even more to really “be in the moment” with her. Today, after some park time, running some errands and a “noodle” lunch at Azuma, she was saddened she couldn’t meet baby Megan. I tried explaining to her that she had to be 14 yrs old to see baby Megan right now, but that next week, when Auntie Jenn brought her home, we could go and visit her. She had a little meltdown, went to her room for about 10 minutes, and then out she ran, full smile, saying, “Mommy, Emi is all better now. I would like to draw.” So, I set her supplies up at the kitchen table, went to put the laundry away, and about 5 minutes later, I hear…” Mommy, come and see what I just doed!” I came out, and the look of pride on her face, after she had written “Emiko Mommy Daddy Spotty” and then started the alphabet…was just priceless! Needless to say, I got out the dSLR, and proudly displayed her work on the fridge, so when Daddy came home, he too, would see what a great job she did!

Wow, this was awesome! It’s so hard to tell if we are getting through to her sometimes.
