remembering my kinder girl’s year June 24, 2008
as i print some of my FAVE photos from miss emi’s kindergarden year, i have to share some of my favorite conversations, before i forget when i scrap these . . . sometime in who knows when:
as many of you know, she is not my girly girl, by any stretch. this past halloween, we were at our 3rd halloween costume store [also known as target in our neck of the woods], and after seeing 2 dozen or so outfits, we had ONE maybe as an angel. then, she points to said costume she is currently wearing, and says *. . . or i could be THIS mommy!* and points to the pink barbie cheerleader costume. my mouth drops open, and i’m like - really?
m: do you know what that is?
e: yes, mommy, i could be a cheerleader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
m: what is a cheerleader?
e: you know, what baachan [grandma in japanese] used to do when she was my age. you cheer and stuff!
m: who do you cheer for? what types of cheers do you do? [dying inside LOL]
e: like this *2,4,6,8 who do we appreciate? camp kids camp kids YEAH!!!* no wait, i need a microbomb and some pon pons!
m: ok, you mean a megaphone and some pom poms?
e: yea, like those and reaches and grabs some and then repeats said cheer!
m: getting teary eyed, laughing, and applauding!
as we’re getting ready for school one morning, sometime before thanksgiving. we’re almost out the door and she says:
e: mommy, i need to have a ponytail thingy please.
m: really? what type of ponytail would you like? [again dying, knowing she has NEVER wanted to have anything in her hair for longer than 1 second!]
e: the kind where my ears show, the pretty kind! and i need the one that matches my uniform mom! [she had never called me mom either, it had always been MOMMY]
yeah, another one of those moments:)
*i chose to be a mative this year, instead of a pilgrim. *
m: why?
e: matives were artists like me, and pilgrims just liked to dance.
after we had created xmas cards, she turned to me, and said, *you’re the best mother in the world!*
