if you give a mom a muffin . . .   August 3, 2008

If You Give a Mom a Muffin

If you give a mom a muffin,
She’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
So she’ll pour herself some.
The coffee will get spilled by her three year old.
She’ll wipe it up.

Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty socks.
She’ll remember she has to do some laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,
She’ll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan supper for tonight.

She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She’ll look for her cookbook. (101 Things To Make With a Pound of
Hamburger.)
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow.
She will look for the checkbook.

The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old.
She’ll smell something funny.
She’ll change the two year old.
While she is changing the two year old the phone will ring. (Of course!)
Her five year old will answer it and hang up.

She remembers that she wants to phone a friend to come over for coffee on
Friday.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
She will pour herself some.
And chances are,
If she has a cup of coffee,
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.

LOL, welcome to my world!!! thanks mom, for sending this to me!

wonderful weekend day!

it started off with the girls waking up very early, before 7am. [note: this summer, they have been sleeping until 8am or 8:30am- so this came as a shock!]. especially since dh said they went to bed late friday night. after an all night crop, mommy was tired, so dh got up with the girls, which i so appreciate!
we hadn’t gotten to the grocery store friday admist all the errands, so off i went, at 7am! it was a GREAT time to shop, no one else was there! course i wouldn’t be either, but our household was up early! which turned out to make for an awesome summer family day! after grocery shopping, daddy and mari vaccuumed, while i put the groceries away and got snacks prepared for our trip to bonfante! or gilroy gardens it is now called. it will always be bonfante to us:) we rode the carousel, and mari went on all the baby/toddler rides and she didn’t want to get off! emi found the snake roller coaster this time, and that was the only thing she wanted to go on! after some rides and some time in the water play area [so wish i had my camera - this was just the BEST to see them have so much fun!], we had lunch and then hit more rides. mari lasted a lot longer than we thought…and when we got home after 3pm, mari and mommy got a good nap in! daddy and emi played and chilled out with some videos:) we enjoyed a late dinner from dream dinners, and emi and i watched hercules while munching on yummy popcorn and daddy took care of the dishes for us. once the girls got into bed, we started checking out places to go for our anniversary later this year. we were going to go away for our 10 year, but of course mari arrived…so this year, for our 12th, we will hopefully be able to do a bed and breakfast somewhere:)

the BESt part about today was the smiles, laughter, and sheer joy that comes from getting quality time in with the family!

blessings,
erin
