is God’s word enough?   August 12, 2008

Is God’s Word Enough?

Small is the service that is divine
Empty is the pew that is next to mine
Sinners hear of a Cross hewn rough
Wondering, “Is God’s Word enough?”

Drums and bands, they’ll bring the crowd
On their feet they’ll all sing loud
The dancers spin, soloist hot stuff

Does anyone notice; Is God’s Word enough?
The preacher has 5 tips for life
She certainly knows how to deal with strife
And when she asks if I want my stuff

Will I still ask, “Is God’s Word enough?”
Back to the service that is small yet true
Hearing of the sin that I still do
The answer was always on the Cross hewn rough

Who could still ask, “Is God’s Word enough?”

written by my amazing dh. just found this on his blog. and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
love you, dh.

a work in progress…

always, is our family/dining room. since we have little ones, it won’t truly be a formal dining room until they are older, or we remodel the way we really would like to.
in the meantime, we use and reuse those oh so lovely target organizers, purging and recycling toys, books, art supplies, etc. so the girls have a variety. while there rooms are also organized, and filled with goodies…somehow, they always end up in the main part of our home, which i truly LOVE! so, after coming home from tahoe, we brought all things kid related to the family room, and just purged, and reorganized. felt so good!!! my next task is to find a cute wooden table with chairs for them for the family room area where our grader can do her homework [since she doesn't like to in her own bedroom yet, which has an adorable desk...but, again would rather hang out with the family], and the sassy one can sit and do her [work] as well.

Dsc 0009-1 we will be getting rid of the little picnic table, putting it outside in the courtyard with the water toys, and replacing it with the table. wondering where mari is? she is inside her playard, which she insists on having all those toys in with her at once!!! she will put her arms up and say UUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH til i put her in. she will play in there for just under 25 minutes at a time. gotta love that- entertaining herself:) love the giggles, wiggles, and snorts that come from her in there!
Dsc 0012-3 hi mari girl!!!

welcome home!   August 11, 2008

to us:)
warning: L O N G post ahead. [in random order i might add, as i'm about 1/2 way through this]
where to start? ok, who else is blown away that it is AUGUST 11th today? hello!!! seriously, school starts in two weeks. we have a [grader] in the house! she goes in and out of excitement, anxiousness, and then more excitement!
i left the camera at home, so no pictures yet of our last of three trips this summer. we spent the past 5 days in the beautiful lake tahoe, an annual trip for my extended family. we hit the pool alot, daddy got to go play golf, lost his wallet [story for another day], mommy went ziplining in heavenly, we played tons of games, we created lots of art with the girls, and ate til our fingers were even full. and as we were packing up, daddy found his wallet, after mommy cancelled all credit cards.
so many mixed emotions as we settle into the fall routine, in just a few short weeks. no more sleeping in. have to set our alarm clocks, since being late for a playdate won’t earn you a trip to the office for a pink slip, so much as having a grader to get to school on time, now will! i want to somehow maintain the ease and fun of the summer into the school year, and yet, still have our routines of including homework, and balancing time to play, etc.
mari has progressed so much in the 2 1/2 months she has been in speech therapy. we truly [heart] her speech pathologist/therapist. today, she told mari that she is her fave, and the highlight of her week. sharon and i both got a little teary eyed, knowing that later this fall, we will have to transition her into meeting with another therapist, since sharon will be having a baby at the end of the year. and even though sharon will be returning to work, they most likely will not transfer mari back with her. my cousin, who is a special needs teacher, insists that mari working with different therapists will be a good thing. perhaps just not so much for mommy. as you all know how much i embrace change, NOT. i know that He is in control, and all will work out the way He has planned for us.
totally excited that joshua won the SYTYCD title, however, a little bummed that katee didn’t win.
omgosh…
can we say, go USA!!!

Mens Relay so flippin excited for those guys!!!
tomorrow is mari’s best friend’s birthday…
happy birthday miss addie!!! we love you little one!

lots of projects going on!
need to start and finish my DT work for PMP. i love the fact that suzy always gets us the latest and greatest to work with. so far, my fave is from sonburn designs!
there are a few classes that i need to create for when suzy goes to brazil to teach for MLS.
i just picked up all the new MLS, so need to start working on my next class!
start planning our daisies activity for the upcoming year!
find a gym and commit!
get the girls’ signed up for their activities this fall. emi will be trying basketball out for the first time. i’m very excited for her, as is her daddy. this is his sport. emi talks about it all the time, too. in addition to daisies, she will continue to swim as well:)
mari might increase to speech twice a week now, and i would love to get her into a swim class. get all ready for next summer and just have more mellow days of the park and the pool. happiest memories from this summer were spent there:)
we have two baby showers to get planning and creating for:)
and i’ll be going here, with her, in OCTOBER! i just LOVE my friend, suzy. she is crazy, silly, funny, loving, supportive, hilarious, and special all rolled into one chia pet head LOL. gotta love that!
my dh and i will be going away for our anni this fall. very excited about that. long overdue, as we were going to go away for our 10 yr. mari was born, 25 days following our anni, so that fixed that.

that’s it for now.

good night!

if you give a mom a muffin . . .   August 3, 2008

If You Give a Mom a Muffin

If you give a mom a muffin,
She’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
So she’ll pour herself some.
The coffee will get spilled by her three year old.
She’ll wipe it up.

Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty socks.
She’ll remember she has to do some laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,
She’ll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan supper for tonight.

She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She’ll look for her cookbook. (101 Things To Make With a Pound of
Hamburger.)
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow.
She will look for the checkbook.

The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old.
She’ll smell something funny.
She’ll change the two year old.
While she is changing the two year old the phone will ring. (Of course!)
Her five year old will answer it and hang up.

She remembers that she wants to phone a friend to come over for coffee on
Friday.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
She will pour herself some.
And chances are,
If she has a cup of coffee,
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.

LOL, welcome to my world!!! thanks mom, for sending this to me!

wonderful weekend day!

it started off with the girls waking up very early, before 7am. [note: this summer, they have been sleeping until 8am or 8:30am- so this came as a shock!]. especially since dh said they went to bed late friday night. after an all night crop, mommy was tired, so dh got up with the girls, which i so appreciate!
we hadn’t gotten to the grocery store friday admist all the errands, so off i went, at 7am! it was a GREAT time to shop, no one else was there! course i wouldn’t be either, but our household was up early! which turned out to make for an awesome summer family day! after grocery shopping, daddy and mari vaccuumed, while i put the groceries away and got snacks prepared for our trip to bonfante! or gilroy gardens it is now called. it will always be bonfante to us:) we rode the carousel, and mari went on all the baby/toddler rides and she didn’t want to get off! emi found the snake roller coaster this time, and that was the only thing she wanted to go on! after some rides and some time in the water play area [so wish i had my camera - this was just the BEST to see them have so much fun!], we had lunch and then hit more rides. mari lasted a lot longer than we thought…and when we got home after 3pm, mari and mommy got a good nap in! daddy and emi played and chilled out with some videos:) we enjoyed a late dinner from dream dinners, and emi and i watched hercules while munching on yummy popcorn and daddy took care of the dishes for us. once the girls got into bed, we started checking out places to go for our anniversary later this year. we were going to go away for our 10 year, but of course mari arrived…so this year, for our 12th, we will hopefully be able to do a bed and breakfast somewhere:)

the BESt part about today was the smiles, laughter, and sheer joy that comes from getting quality time in with the family!

blessings,
erin
